Role and significance of domain name registration

Necessity for a domain name registration

The domain name registration is the most crucial task amongst other tasks for you to conduct your business online. It’s a prerequisite before you can start up with the entire process. Your domain name is a unique identity in itself on the World Wide Web for your business or otherwise. There can be no two parties holding the similar domain names at the same time. Your identity on the Internet needs to be completely unique from others. A domain name has two parts, separated by dots. The left-hand side part is the most specific and the right-hand side part is the most general one.

What is a domain name?

Basically, a domain name is a URL (or Uniform Resource Locator) or an addressing structure to locate and identify computers on the Internet. Computers make use of IP (or Internet Protocol) addresses for identification of numbers of each other on the Internet. It is difficult to remember IP addresses, and this where domain names came into picture. They can be easily remembered and the phrases can be used for identifying entities in the Internet. Whenever the user will type the domain name in his browser, the Domain Name Server (DNS) will transform it into IP numbers to connect the user to the website.
