Website hosting allows anyone with an internet connection to receive and send information between two people who may be a great distance apart from each other. It makes use of a web server and web server software in order to function. Any home or office computer can act as a web server for website hosting.

Though any computer can act as a web server, due to the high cost of maintenance it is pretty hard to do with a run of the mill machine. And hence special servers are used for website hosting. These are good when it comes to dealing with storing large amounts of data and these special servers also help to keep these systems protected from threats such as viruses, worms and hackers. There are however some aspects that need to be considered when setting up the web server. These are the technical aspects and requirements needed to keep the web server in proper operational condition. A website containing basic information will require a web space of about 50 MB. But if it is a website that needs to support various applications, it may require web space of about 1 GB. This web space will depend on the specific site.
Technical aspects
The bandwidth is an important consideration. It refers to the transfer of information from the user’s website such as the downloading of various files. People should know the actual content of the website before actually choosing the bandwidth. The bandwidth for the majority of sites is about 10 GB. Though there are sites that provide wallpapers that use a bandwidth of more than a hundred GB.
